Opal Monday Market, the real thing 烏帕爾市場

烏帕爾在從喀什去卡湖的路上,每周一有市集,就在大路邊上。因為是小鎮,這市集特別有傳統特色,乘電動三輪車來去市集的人和乘驢車的都有。我覺得很值得一遊。

Opal is a small village outside of Kashgar. The market day is on Monday. Coming back from Karakul Lake, we have the option of visiting the market. I was hesitated whether to do that or not. After all, I have seen several markets in Kashgar, and a market is a market...

It didn't take long for me to decide. Before we even entered the town, I saw donkey carts come and go. Donkey carts! Many of them. It's a rural market, one we don't get to see very often these days.

Xinjiang produces large amount of walnut and almond. A famous kind of almond with thin layer of shell, can be cracked with fingers, called Badamu.

Yes, those are what I thought they are, on the ground...

April is too early for most of the fruits, but apricot is ready to serve.

Selling watermelon by slice is the Uyghur's way.

Spice seller. He is very fast and precise with those ladle.

Tobacco seller.

When the butcher sold out his meat, he just steps out and get a live one...

Livestock market.

Finish deal and ready to go home.

This big buy wanted his picture taken, so he can see it right away on my camera.

A real parking lot, donkey cart parking lot.

Outside of the market.

Pick up today's haul and go home.

I love the local bus, or they should be called taxi.

So that was my market day in Opal. This would be the only traditional and rural market I got to see in my four weeks in Xinjiang.
